Gossip Girl Link Up

Coat // Skirt (old) // Shirt (similar) // Shoes (similar) // Purse (similar)

Today I am participating in a link up hosted by Courtney, Carrie, and Michaela in honor of Gossip Girl Day (I didn't even know it existed)! I watched Gossip Girl a few years ago and the best part of the show was seeing all of the places they went in NYC and what they wore.

Who is your outfit inspired by and why did you pick them?
My outfit is inspired by Blair Waldorf because she is who I think of when I think of Gossip Girl. I love how her style is so put together and unique. I thought the bow shirt and heels with a statement bag resemble her style from the show!

What is your favorite Gossip Girl moment?
I watched Gossip Girl on Netflix a few years ago, but I can clearly remember my favorite moment as (spoiler alert!!) when Blair decides to meet Chuck at the top of the Empire State Building because everyone has (at least I had) been rooting for them since the beginning!

Daniel Wellington & KJP

Today I am teaming up with Abby, who blogs over at Belle of the Ball, to show you how we style our Daniel Wellington watches! I received mine for Christmas (thanks, Santa) and love how simple and versatile it is. Both Abby and I paired our watches with a Kiel James Patrick bracelet for a nautical touch.

Lush

My mom and I went a little crazy at Lush yesterday and left with quite a few more things than we came for. I already had the Mint Julep Lip Scrub (perfect for dry lips in the winter) and really wanted to try a face mask or bath bomb, but the store ended up having a very low supply of bath bombs (most likely due to the twitter trend that has everyone wanting a bath bomb). After having an employee test out a few products on us, we were sold and I got a few masks and my mom got Lemony Flutter and the Ayesha Fresh Face Mask. I love how you can test all of the products in the store and that the employees actually know what they are talking about when they are explaining how to use them and what they are made from!

This mask was recommended to me by an employee who said it works great for most nearly any skin type but definitely makes a difference in acne prone skin. This mask uses coarse peppermint (and other ingredients that I have never heard) of to remove dirt from your pores.

I tried this Fresh Face Mask out last night and the cooling feeling and tea tree oils left my face feeling fresh and clean.

This hand and body soap has oatmeal and other ingredients to leave your skin feeling soft and nourished. The best part, to me at least, is that it smells just like a Tootsie Roll!

I'm so excited to use these new masks and soaps!
Do you have any favorite Lush products?

Studying For Final Exams

Final exam week is in full swing for those who didn't take them before winter break and being organized is one of the most important things that will get me through this week. I hope these organizational and study tips help you out whether you are prepping for finals or starting a new semester!

Agenda/Notebook System:
Starting around this time last year I began using a new system to organize my Lilly Pulitzer planner that has really made staying on top of things and knowing when my tests/quizzes are a lot easier. In my agenda I only write down upcoming tests and quizzes or important things that are due. Then, in my small notebook I make a to-do list for each day of the week for all of my homework and studying that needs to get done.

Quizlet:
Flashcards are one of my favorite ways to memorize information and quiz myself, but I found that they seemed to be a waste because I would spend so much time rewriting all of the information, only to throw away 50 flashcards the day after the test. I started using Quizlet a lot more this year and it is so much faster to transfer all the information to digital flashcards than to write them out. I also love the different formats you can study them in (games, tests, etc.). Not to mention you can access them at home or on your phone!

Study Books:
At the beginning of the semester my AP teachers recommended that we get review books to help while studying for tests and so far they have been a huge help! Most of them come with summaries of each chapter along with diagrams and practice tests. If you are in an AP class I would definitely recommend purchasing one!

Good luck on exams and in your new classes this semester!

Barbour Tartan

Jacket // Sweater // Scarf // Boots (similar)  // Watch // Purse (similar)

I have been wearing my Barbour coat nonstop since the temperatures in NC have gotten to below freezing and finally found the matching scarf! I searched high and low for it online and in stores but they were sold out everywhere. I found it in the Nordstrom men's department when I wasn't even looking for it and it happened to be the last one in the store!!

I'm sure you noticed two new things in this post…

1. I chopped off 7 inches of my hair last week! I love it, and it feels so refreshing and healthy again!

2. I finally got around to redesigning my blog! I purchased this template from 17th Avenue Designs on Etsy and it was unbelievably to set up! I think it looks so much more professional I and am really happy with how it turned out.

Macaron Making

Last week my dad and I attempted to make French macaroons even after seeing numerous posts about how difficult they are to perfect. Everything was going perfect until I realized I had forgotten to whip the sugar in with the eggs before adding the almond flour. I mean, duh, how do you make cookies without sugar? We still continued making them and they actually didn't taste absolutely horrible (but they were barely Instagram worthy). I used the recipe that came with this kit that I found at Bed, Bath & Beyond.

This is where it all went downhill.

Moral of the story: leave the macaron making to the professionals.
Have you tried making macaroons before?

Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale Picks

I know a lot of you have been looking forward to the semi-annual Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale just like I am and it's finally here!! In the midst of preparing for final exams, I think I am going to skip out on the stressful speed shopping in these early hours, however some of these might be too cute to pass up (not to mention the awesome prices)! Here are my top picks for the sale.

Great deals on Murfee scarves!

Don't fret if your order doesn't go through immediately of if the website crashes-it's bound to happen at least once. I would also recommend buying things one at a time because items can sell out while they are in your shopping cart!
Good luck and happy shopping.

1 Year

Today marks exactly one year since my first post and I never would have thought I would have so much fun blogging! I have been able to work with so many amazing bloggers and companies and have joined both the Smart Girls Group and the Undeniable Report where I can write even more about style! This year I have been featured on Seventeen Magazine's website, grown my Instagram to more than 2.5k followers, grown my Twitter to almost 100 followers and made so many new blogger friends! Really excited to see what this next year has in store for me.

(Yes, I know the balloon is backwards. Taking pictures with a balloon is a lot harder than it looks.)

Thanks to everyone who has been reading, and to my dad for helping me take all of my outfit pictures!
Happy New Year.
