Fourth Of July Outfit Inspiration

Red, white, and blue seems to be the main color palette of my wardrobe, so I think I will have no problem figuring out what to wear this Fourth of July. If you're needing some inspiration, I've rounded up some of my most patriotic looks from the last year.

What are you wearing this year for the Fourth Of July?

Southern Shirt & Seersucker

Today I'm sharing a more casual look that I have been wearing when I'm running late but still want to look like I put together a real outfit (especially when I wake up just in time to get to Chick-Fil-A while they're still serving breakfast). My Southern Shirt Company shirts are definitely some of my favorites because they are so comfy but still look nice and preppy. I think by adding these seersucker shorts rather than a pair of norts, the outfit looks more put together. I have already worn this outfit way too many times and I know it will remain one of my go-to outfits this summer.

National Wear Your Lilly Day

Happy National Wear Your Lilly Day! Today I decided to pull out this vintage patchwork skirt to celebrate the first day of summer. Here in North Carolina, it feels like it has been summer for a few weeks now with temperatures surpassing 100 degrees. Lilly shift dresses and skirts are always a summer favorite for me because they are so easy to wear and the prints are perfect for all summer occasions.

Pool-Proof Makeup

Now that it's (finally) summer, I know a lot of you will be spending a lot of time at the pool, lake, or beach. I usually like to have some makeup on when I leave the house, and in the summertime I try to cut back on the amount I put on to prevent it from melting off my face. Here are some pool-proof tips to make your makeup last in the heat and in the pool.

Maybelline BB Cream:
I usually opt for a BB cream in the summer because it is lightweight and provides just enough coverage. It also has SPF in it so it saves you a step in the morning and you are less likely to forget applying sunscreen on your face!

Clean & Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets:
These are perfect to keep in your bag with you in case you get oily throughout the day. They remove excess oil without messing up your face makeup.

Urban Decay De-Slick Makeup Setting Spray:
This is a great step for added insurance that your makeup look will stay all day. The De-Slick formula controls oil and keeps your skin from looking shiny- perfect for summer!

Maybelline The Rocket Waterproof Mascara:
Waterproof mascara is a no brainer when headed to the pool and this has been my go-to.

Benefit They're Real Push Up Liner:
This gel liner is no joke, it will not budge no matter what. I wore it swimming in the lake and forgot I was wearing it and when I rubbed my eyes, I wasn't left with raccoon eyes!

Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment:
I always forget about my lips when I'm putting on sunscreen at the pool and end up getting burnt. Using a lip product with SPF in it ensures your lips will be hydrated and protected from the sun, which is especially important in the summertime!

Do you have any makeup must haves for summer?

Birthday Dinner

Yesterday I turned 17 and while I don't feel much older, saying I'm 17 sounds much older. For dinner, my parents and I went uptown to BLT Steak. I went there before prom and it was just as good the second time! The popovers are huge and our grilled bacon appetizer was surprisingly so good. After our meal, the waiter surprised us with the peanut butter chocolate mousse and it was so delicious. I'm so glad he brought it because I wouldn't have tried it if he didn't! I wore this fun bright top I got on sale from J. Crew the other day and this statement necklace from my Rocksbox. I had such a great birthday with my family and a delicious brunch with a good friend.

Thanks for all the birthday wishes over Twitter and Instagram yesterday! They made my day :)

Junior Year

I finished my last final yesterday morning and I couldn't be happier it's summer. Junior year in one word was stressful. Despite the overwhelming AP work, I had a great year. I became an officer of the Spanish Club, tackled AP courses, went to every home football game, actually dressed up for spirit week, and went to prom!

Classes
This year I had two of my least favorite classes become some of the classes that I gained the most from. I was absolutely terrified on the first day of AP English Language and Composition because of all the hidden messages and themes that everyone but me seemed to be getting from the books. I actually feel like I became a better reader from taking this class and by the end of the course was able to get a lot more out of the books we read. Spanish was another class that I started out hating and almost dropped in the first week. I ended up starting to understand and like the language a lot more and am going to take AP Spanish next year!

Prom
It was so fun to be able to attend prom this year! I loved getting dressed up and going out to dinner and the dance with my friends.

DECA
I was finally able to join DECA (a marketing competition club) this year because I took a marketing class. It was so fun to be able to represent my school at states and enhance my communication and business skills. Next year's goal: internationals!

Golf
Being on the golf team is always one of the highlights of my school year. I've made so many great friends and it's fun to be able to practice and support each other as a team. This year we were conference champs for the second year in a row and I was the individual conference champ! I also got to play at states for the third year at Pinehurst, which is always such an awesome experience.

So excited to be a senior next year!

Hues of Blue (Bright Shorts Link-Up)

Today's post is part of a link-up hosted by my blogger buddy Meg, who blogs over at A Sunny State Of Mind! Meg asked us to style a pair of bright colored shorts for this link-up, and while these aren't my brightest pair of shorts, I think that the gingham pattern and seersucker fabric are perfect for summer. Of course they are blue, because that seems to be the only color I have been wearing lately and this outfit definitely hasn't broken the pattern. I'm sure these will quickly become a summer favorite for me because they are so lightweight and versatile.

Summer Stripes + Bracelet Giveaway

This has quickly become one of my favorite outfits for the springtime. Although the long sleeves can get kind of hot in the afternoon, it was perfect for a morning at the farmer's market with my dad. I picked up these shorts a while back at Gap and they are so comfy and lightweight. I added this rope bracelet from Ford Designs and think it adds the perfect touch to the outfit. Because it is so versatile, it will definitely be a staple in my summer wardrobe.

Sydney Elizabeth Golf

Golf is a huge part of my life and is something I've been wanting to share more on Gimme Glamour. If any of you have tried to find cute golf clothes it is a serious struggle. All of the skirts and shorts are boring and have a weird fit. I typically wear either tennis skirts, which have no pockets, or Lilly Pulitzer skirts or shorts, which run pretty short. I found Sydney Elizabeth Golf through Instagram and loved their skirts and thought they would be perfect to wear to tournaments and playing on the weekends. Their patterns are similar to those you would find at Lilly Pulitzer but are specifically made for golf. I wore this outfit for 18 holes on Memorial Day and got so many compliments! I will definitely be wearing these skirts on repeat out on the golf course this summer.
