Salty Dog Stripes

Behold, the first of too many outfits featuring a striped shirt from my recent trip to Hilton Head Island. I ordered this shirt from Peter Beaton a few weeks ago and it has to be the nicest one I own (they also have the most adorable hats!). The striped shirts are unisex, so I love the loose and comfy fit they have and the whale logo is too cute. Paired with white chinos and Jacks, it's the perfect easy and cute outfit for the beach.
(I thought if we went to take pictures early in the morning it wouldn't be too humid, boy, was I wrong. No amount of hairspray could keep my hair tamed and it took forever for the camera to get defogged.)

Our condo was right across the street from the Salty Dog Café, so I biked there way too many times for chicken tenders throughout the week.

Instagram Accounts I've Been Loving

I don't know if it's just me, but I'm constantly checking Instagram during the summer since I'm not busy at school. If you need a few new accounts to follow to spice up your feed, here are a few I have been loving lately!

@amberfillerup //
All I can say is #hairgoals, #familygoals, just #goals. All of Amber's pictures capture the cutest moments with her son, Atticus, and her life in New York City. She is in Bora Bora right now (so jealous) and is posting the most amazing photos!

@lonestarsouthern //
Kate's fun and colorful pictures are sure to brighten up your feed. I love her Southern style and she has the cutest personality!

@undeniablereport //
If any account has mastered the Instagram theme, it has to be the Undeniable Report. It was so hard to choose just one picture to add into this post because every photo flows together so perfectly with the next one. I love the hues of blues and whites that are so unique to the brand.

@juliahengel //
I love Julia's effortless but glamorous style (hence her blog name 'Gal Meets Glam') and am always jealous of all of her vacation destinations. She has been in Europe lately and all of her pictures have been beyond perfect!

Who are some of your favorite Instagrammers?

Kate Spade Swim

A few weeks ago I found these Kate Spade swimsuits on major sale at my local Marshall's and my trip to Hilton Head was the perfect time to pull them out! I got a one piece and a high waisted bikini, both in the same print but different colors. The high waisted bottom was a little out of my comfort zone, but I mixed and matched the bottom with a plain navy top from Aerie and I think it looked really cute! What wasn't so cute was the huge red stripe on my stomach after laying out on the beach for too long. We barely spent that much time on the beach because it was so hot (and I was too scared after a couple shark sightings), but we definitely took advantage of the pool at our condo.

Please disregard the ridiculous tan and sunburn lines.

We were interrupted by a sand shark and a couple dolphins. The shark was so close to the shore, not even two feet into the water!!

These specific swimsuits are no longer available online, so shop some of my current favorites from Kate Spade (most of which are on sale!!) here:

Instagram Recap: Hilton Head Island

If you haven't been following along on my Instagram, then you wouldn't know I was on Hilton Head Island for the week. It was so nice to have a relaxing week without any set plans. We stayed on the beach right by the Salty Dog (which we went to way too many times) and were in biking distance of Harbour Town. It was such a fun (and Instagram-worthy) trip! Here are some pictures from my Instagram over the last week.

Wearing one of my favorite Southern Shirt Company t-shirts on the beach. Red, white, and blue seems to have been my major color scheme throughout the trip.

Got to test out my new L.L. Bean boat tote on the beach. See my beach bag essentials here.

Celebrating National Ice Cream day the right way- with rainbow sprinkles!

Had so much fun sailing on the Stars and Stripes! Lots of pictures coming in another post from the boat ride later this week (I even got to steer the boat)!!

Father and I matching in our Vineyard Vines on the beach. Shoutout to Mom for her photography skills (it took a few tries, but we got it)!

Watching the sunset in Harbour Town before dinner at the Quarterdeck. It's so cool that you can see both the sunrise and sunset over the water since you are on an island (not that I ever woke up early enough to see the sunrise lol).

We tried to go out early to take some pictures before it was super hot and humid, but my hair was twice the size it was when I left! It was also so complicated to get the camera to work in such high humidity because pieces inside the camera were fogged up so we had to take the camera apart to get the shots to come out clear. Has anyone else had this problem?

NYC Day 5

Our last day in New York City was mainly composed of eating at various places to kill time before heading to the airport. We started the day off at Maison Kayser in Bryant Park (again) and I got a chocolate almond croissant (again) and an iced mocha. We walked around the park and the surrounding areas for a little bit because we had only seen the park during the winter when the ice skating rink took up the majority of the park. One thing I really liked about New York City is all the great parks they have that are a nice change of pace from the concrete jungle.

After finishing packing up at the hotel, we headed back to Bryant Park for lunch. We sat on the rooftop of the Bryant Park Grill which had the cutest outdoor seating and the best view of the park. Eating outside is one of my absolute favorite things to do during the summer, so this was a great way to end our trip.

We treated ourselves to parmesan truffle fries at the hotel before catching out plane back to Charlotte. It was such an awesome trip and I can't wait for the next time I get a chance to be back in the Big Apple!

Apologies for posting two recaps from this trip in a row, I wanted to break it up because I have so many pictures and I couldn't narrow it down!!

NYC Day 4: Digital Influencers Day

The Digital Influencers Day of the Smart Girls' Group conference was probably my favorite of the three days. The speakers were awesome and the breakout groups were great to pinpoint areas of my blog that I wanted to improve. It was really interesting to hear how much social media is used in businesses today and how what I'm doing with my blog can translate over into the workforce. For the breakout sessions I attended Social Media 101 and the Secrets of Sponsorships and boy, I realized how much I didn't know! It was such a cool learning experience and an awesome way to connect with other bloggers.
 I had so much fun hanging out with my new blogger friends and meeting some accomplished bloggers I've been reading for a while like Carly and Krista. They were both so nice and excited to talk with readers (but probably not as excited as we were)! It was also too fun snapping (literally) hundreds of pictures outside the cutest townhouses in our accidentally color coordinated outfits- talk about aesthetic.

See my outfit post for this day here.

Stripes were clearly the move that day.

The cutest backpacks from Madeline & Company. (They launch the 31st!)

#SquadGoals, am I right?

After the conference, my mom and I popped into Ladurée right before it closed. The displays in the store were too cute and the macarons were the best I've ever tried.

For dinner, we walked a few blocks down to Orsay and ate outside on the cutest outdoor patio. I had the roasted chicken with the best mashed potatoes (no lumps!!).

After dinner we hopped in a cap and headed down to Bloomingdales to take advantage of an awesome sale before it ended in less than an hour. We were pretty much the last people in the store, but I got some great deals on a pair of Rayban Clubmasters and a Barbour raincoat ($100 off right now)!

Saint James Stripes

Someone stop me... I bought another striped shirt while in NYC. We stumbled across the Saint James store in Greenwich Village and I just couldn't resist stopping in striped shirt heaven. This tee definitely has a more casual feel, but it worked great paired with this fluted skirt and a dressier sandal for dinner.
