Copycat Chick-fil-a Chicken Nuggets

As a self-diagnosed Chick-fil-a addict, I was really excited when I saw this recipe pop up on my Pinterest feed. I knew I had to try it, so my blogger friend Meg and I thought it would be fun to try out some copycat recipes from Pinterest and see if they really taste like the real deal. She tested out Panera's chocolate chip cookies, check them out on her blog!

Overview:
  • Looks: The breading isn't as thick as at Chick-fil-a, so it's not as golden brown. I tried to fry them for a little bit longer so they would look more like the real ones, but it was tricky to get them the perfect without burning them.
  • Texture: Like I said before, the breading wasn't as thick or crunchy.
  • Taste: I'd say this recipe is about as close as you can get to the real deal. While they don't taste exactly like Chick-fil-a, they were still really good! At first, I was skeptical about brining it in pickle juice but I think that's what really makes it taste like Chick-fil-a.
  • Worth it?: Because the ingredients are common items you can find in your pantry, they are inexpensive to make, but it is a bit time consuming and requires a lot of attention during the frying part. It's a lot easier to go to Chick-fil-a but these are great to make for dinner especially if you want to substitute the peanut oil for vegetable oil  or limit the amount of salt you add in to make it more healthy.

I was pleasantly surprised by how close they tasted to Chick-fil-a's chicken nuggets. I was definitely skeptical about the pickle juice but I think that's what gave it that Chick-fil-a taste.

Have you had any luck with Pinterest copycat recipes?

    1. Surprisingly they don't! I hate pickles but every recipe I looked at said it was the key ingredient to get that Chick-fil-a taste so I went ahead and tried it. Plus, since you brine it in the pickle juice mixture with milk and eggs so the pickle taste isn't too overpowering.
